Menu Appetizer: Oven-baked Hash Brown Cakes Main Course: Clear the Fridge Omelets Dessert: Loaded Oatmeal Creme Brulee Beverage: Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice and Chardonnay Cocktails
Supplies: tablecloth vases fresh flowers small oranges Directions: This is a super chill date night, so the tablescape is easy and simple. Throw a tablecloth on the table (or not!), place some cheerful flowers in vases, and scatter some small oranges in between.
The Date
Begin, by putting on your comfiest PJS! Next, make the cocktail together. This is also delicious without the wine if you prefer. Sip on your cocktail while enjoying the appetizer. Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice & Chardonnay Cocktails Ingredients: Juice from 2 medium oranges (when available, I use blood or caracara oranges) Juice from 1/2 a lime 1/2 C Chardonnay Add all ingredients to large measuring cup, stir, and pour into wine glasses.
After you've had sufficient time to unwind and chat, make the omelets together. Divide up the tasks and take your time. (In our house, Jon is always the omelet maker, so he takes on the cooking for this date.) When it is time to cook the omelets, we usually make one and share it and then make the second and share it. You could also place the first on warm in the toaster oven while cooking the second or use two pans (I hate having extra pans to wash, so I never choose this option 😂). Enjoy the fresh fruit with your omelet.
Eat slowly, laugh, dance, and enjoy each other's company!
When you're ready, top the Crème Brulees and enjoy these curled up on the couch (you are in your PJs after all!)
Need a simpler date? No time to prepare items ahead? Make these easy swaps: 1. Instead of Oven-Baked Hashbrown Cakes, purchase frozen latkes, cook according to package while you're making the cocktail together, and top with sour cream and green onions. 2. In place of Loaded Oatmeal Crème Brulee, purchase a few gourmet doughnuts for dessert 4. Skip the tablescape, and eat on the couch!
Need a shorter date? Just make the cocktails and omelets.
